I have spent the past 2 hours online searching for a simple solution to import the orders from my client’s old site to a new one.

Why is it so simple to have an EXPORT/IMPORT for PRODUCTS, and NONE whatsoever for IMPORTING ORDERS?

This is driving me insane. So I thought I’d ask the developers of WooCommerce.

I have exported the orders into a CSV file, and an XML file too just to be sure. But I cannot find any function anywhere in WooCommerce to IMPORT. WordPress’s importer ONLY imports products and tax sales. ???

If anyone can help, I’m losing a client because of this, and fast.

    Thank you,

    Andre

    Hey there!

We recently added the ability to import and export products into core WooCommerce – before that, you needed to use an extra plugin. If you want to import and export orders, you do still need to use a custom plugin. I can highly recommend this one:

Hi, thank you for the reply!

So we bought both plugins, the one for import and the one for export (why separate them, at $80USD a piece? That is very expensive for a one time use).

Now, how do I do this:

1- Will the new import OVERWRITE the content of the products and orders and customers info already on the site?

2- Do I have to delete all Woocommerce data BEFORE importing?

(NOTE: I used a third-party plugin yesterday, and:
1- New accounts assign new users to old orders.
2- Products in orders ALL indicate “unknown.”)

I got a warning message saying that:

“WooCommerce Customer/Order CSV Export may behave unexpectedly because the following PHP configuration settings are required:

    – suhosin.post.max_array_index_length = 256 or higher
    – suhosin.post.max_totalname_length = 65535 or higher
    – suhosin.post.max_vars = 1024 or higher
    – suhosin.request.max_array_index_length = 256 or higher
    – suhosin.request.max_totalname_length = 65535 or higher
    – suhosin.request.max_vars = 1024 or higher

Please contact your hosting provider or server administrator to configure these settings.”

However, my hosting says that they are NOT using suhosin because it’s OLD and hasn’t been updated in years.

    What do you propose?

Some of our customers don’t actually need importing, or they don’t need exporting, depending on their own set-up. To help accommodate that, we split it into two different plugins.

I can’t speak for third party plugins, as they all work differently. However, the WooCommerce.com CSV importers/exporters work as follow:

1- Will the new import OVERWRITE the content of the products and orders and customers info already on the site?

No, an import will not overwrite if the item doesn’t already exist. For example, if you’re uploading a new order that your new WooCommerce site has never seen, it’ll create a new order. Anything existing will be left alone. If you’re using it.

2- Do I have to delete all Woocommerce data BEFORE importing?

Nope, you don’t need to delete everything. Many of our customers use this as an ongoing update method.

As a premium WooCommerce.com customer, you’re welcome to use the direct support here – the response times are usually quite a bit faster than the forums:
    https://woocommerce.com/my-account/tickets/

Regarding the suhosin messages, please do create a ticket and include your system status log. We’ll be happy to take a closer look! I’ll mark this thread as closed.

    Hi Styzer,

Our Ultimate CSV Importer can help you with both the import and export of WooCommerce Products, Variable products, Orders and few more WooCommerce add-ons. The add-on can also overwrite the existing content and help you to add fresh data to the existing product info. So you need not delete any existing information before import.

If you need only Import option, then you can choose the WooCommerce Import version.

    Cheers!
