Hey everyone. First please excuse my lack of technological speak I am new to wordpress and website stuff! I have a www.ads-software.com site, hosted thru godaddy as well as bought my domain name thru godaddy.
I have literally only just started my site and already I am getting error messages when I try to post or update a page with text or small pictures.
I have disabled and deleted all plugins. My host company assured me everything is running fine their end. They updated my php.ini limit to 64m for posts and uploads. They also updated my php5.ini memory limit to 192M.
I am beginning to wonder whether it is the theme I bought from a third party site (whose support I have just contacted).
Anyone else have this problem? What else can i do? It is really frustrating when I only just started this website!
The exact error message I am getting is:
Fatal Error: allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20 bytes) in /home/content/80/10018780/html/wp-includes/post.php on line 1727

  • 268435456 bytes is 256 megabytes, which is curiously higher than the limits you posted.

Anyway, 256MB of RAM is an enormous consumption of resources. I can’t imagine what you would do (on purpose) that would consume that much memory.

Does this happen if you use the default theme?

If you even come close to a theme needing 256MB of memory then I would trow it out the window. The theme will only run on a custom dedicated server lol and most likely will get your site shut down for resource hogging if you are using a shared server.

Let us know what you come up with.

    Absolutely…

When you get the error message, what exactly are you trying to do? Are you, for example, uploading a *really* large image? Large in dimensions, I mean, not in filesize.

Wasn’t trying to upload anything big at all. Justo only text and a pic that was 311kbs. The problem seems to be fixed now. I literally uninstalled WordPress and installed it from scratch. I had a coder friend look at the code in my theme folder and he adjusted something and now it’s working ok. I did contact the theme provider to make sure everything is compatible. They said it is compatible with WordPress 3.4 on the site so the fact I have 3.4.2 does that make a huge difference?
Also, I originally tried to import a .xml file of all my tumblr posts which I think screwed me up in the first place as I’m sure there were a lot of big files/posts in that. Won’t do that again!
Thanks to everyone here who responded ??
