• I want to create a menu link that will simply list, in blog format, posts from several categories. In other words, I want to create a menu link called NEWS. When someone clicks this link, it display posts from all categories I have chosen. I know this can be done because I see it all the time, yet I cannot figure out how??

  • I haven’t tried this, but I imagine if you added a category of ‘news’ and made it your default category, then every post would be in that category as well as whatever other category you specified (as long as you didn’t uncheck it when specifying the other category). AFAIK, posts can be in any number of categories.

But, as I say, I haven’t tried it.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I’ll try your suggestion. I’m just surprised that this isn’t a simple core feature? When you go to a blog’s home page, it shows posts from many different categories, that’s all I want to achieve, I just don’t want it on the home page…

If all you want is your blog page to show up on a different page from the home page, just create a page (i.e. not a post) for your front page, a blank page for your blog and use the Dashboard to allocate them.

    See this article.

That seems to have worked, aside from some other odd things happening. For some reason, it’s showing the same three posts first on each page of news, followed by the posts in chronological order. In other words, each time I click on the “older entries” link, it lists the first same three posts, then the next 3 are different on each page.. weird??

Hard for me to say without looking at your site. I’d check out your posts to make sure the posts you’re talking about are assigned to just one category; and I’d check out the permalinks, too.

But without seeing your site, there’s not much else I can say.

    Cheers
