I like Jetpack but the :) has to go!

  • I’m writing this out of annoyance and informing you that I will discontinue the use of Jetpack, which I like. I’m annoyed by the smilie face that continues to show on my footer and/or the side of my websites.

    This detracts from the look and feel of the website because of the ?? . Extra gaps show. It does not show in the Safari web browser but it does show up with Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, and Opera. The only way to discontinue the smilie is to turn off jetpack completely.

    Please fix or you will never find me using this again. Yes, just be cause of the smilie just to save the look and feel of the websites I develop.

    Hiding by css makes the ?? disappear but the gaps and odd scrolling are still there. I want it gone with no effort by css.

    Never mind, I’ll just not use Jetpack. Jetpack is the problem of the extra space and the ?? smilie to go along with it. Not my problem to fix and I’m not going to bother with it. Thanks.

    I agree that the smiley is ridiculous and unprofessional and annoying, but at least Jetpack has a configuration option to turn it off. You just have to click the configure button under WordPress.com Stats.

    The image helps collect stats and makes the world a better place but should still work when hidden

    My world would be a better place, though, if that hide option would be checked by default on new sites, or if there was at least a network-level setting to exile the cursed smiley to the fiery pits of Mordor. After more than a hundred sites, I am getting tired of having to banish the smiley. ??

    You have to give it a width and height of “0”, set the overflow: hidden and make it positioning absolute, then you don’t have the line at the bottom anymore.

    NEVER make ist display: none, because then the Jetpack Stats don’t work anymore.
