I use WordPress 4.6. I took over the maintenance of our project WordPress installation from a former colleague. We moved the installation to a new container and somehow we lost the google analytics plugin functionality.
the plugin is Google Analytics Dashboard for WP, Version 4.9.3.1 | By Alin Marcu

I tried to re-authorise it but I lack the credentials that my former colleague used to activate/authorise the plugin … I am missing the authentication for the plugin itself. I cleared the authorization through the GA plugin setting and now i cannot re-authenticate it, because the guy that has set it up has left our project (and even if he does remember what the client ID key was he has no recollection was is the “client secret” required…)

Is there any chance to re-authenticate it? Or should I re install the plugin every statistic so far is lost ?

  • Hi,

Do you still have access to your analytics data (account, property or view) in your Google Analytics account (https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/)?

If you do, just authorize the plugin with your account and select the right View.

If you don’t, ask your colleague to check if he does access to the data in his Google Analytics account. If he does, he can give you the right permissions using the User Management feature.

The data is stored somewhere, you just need to figure out in which Google Account.

PS: While authorizing, please make sure that the following option is unchecked: use your own API Project credentials
