Oy vey. I’m a newbie to all this, and I have my main page https://www.revenwyn.info and I wanted that to be a main page, with the Word Press in a section called /blog.

So I created /blog, and now I can’t access my wp-admin page to edit my blog anymore. Is there a way to reset so that it gets rid of all changes and starts all over again?

Secondly, if I didn’t want my blog showing up as my main page, how would I put it on my domain?

Oh yes and I’m hosted on GoDaddy

    Hi

It looks like you installed WordPress in the root folder of your hosting account. That is not the correct place for what you are trying to do.

It looks like you only have one or two posts up. Copy their content to a file if you don’t already have it in a file. Then I suggest you delete the WordPress install and start over. If you can’t figure out how to delete it, call GoDaddy and see if they will help you.

While you have them on the phone have them create a folder called /blog/. That is where you want to install WordPress, which is what you do next, install another copy of WordPress in the /blog/ folder. That leaves the top folder empty for the main part of your website.

Hopefully this helps you see what you need to do.

If you want, you can go to your ftp/file editor and delete all of the wordpress files, it would be the same as “uninstalling” it, but you’d lose content too. Most hosts have a script and they basically install it for you. I’m not sure if GoDaddy does though. I bought my domain through them, then got hosted at BlueHost instead..

The issue with just deleting the files is it still leaves the database in the back end which should also be deleted.

Revenwyn sounds like a very new web user and may not know what an FTP program is, or at least may not have one set up. That is why I suggested they contact GoDaddy, rather than spend 3 hours trying to get an FTP program configured and learn how to use it.

The webhosting control panel file manager can also be used but again that is a bit complex for a very new web user.

If Revenwyn is comfortable with those methods they can pick one of them, and go into the control panel and delete the database and start over. But if not asking for help is something to consider.

One click installs are relatively easy, and yes, GoDaddy offers those. That would be the way to go once the old site’s gone.

Ok. I got hosting specifically for WordPress and it was installed to my root folder. I guess I should probably uninstall it and then reinstall it to my Blog folder. I’ll do that and see if it fixes the problem. I just didn’t really want to bother with uninstalling/reinstalling.

I had my own web page way back in 1996, just haven’t done much lately.
