I messed up my comments

  • Here is what happens. It’s intermittent. It doesn’t happen much but it happens enough. When someone goes into the single post page (and they are not logged in) someone else’s information will be filled in the Name and Website field at the comments. None of my users are registered. I don’t let them. I am logged in all the time and when this happens to me it forces a logout, then displays the Name and Website fields (I don’t use email-address) populated with another user’s info. It’s like I’m out stealing cookies.

    This happened to me today. I would keep returning to the admin dashboard to get logged in, then when I’d go back to single post page I’d be logged out and another user’s info would be in the boxes. I did this, like, 3 times. I gave up, drank some coffee or something, came back in 15 minutes and everything worked fine.

  • Does this happen to your users aswell or just you? You might want to consider deleting your cookies/cache/temp internet files and seeing if that resolves it.

    Thanks for responding threestyler, It appears to be happening to my users as well. I’ve had a couple of situations where users posted with someone elses name – unintentionally I’m sure.

    Question: For a non-logged in users with name and website stored in cookies, do the name and website fields get sent from the server to the user pre-populated or is this information dynamically read from the cookie as the page is being loaded by the browser? I wonder if it’s possible that when I have more than one user active at a time that the server might be getting confused? But since these user’s are not logged in anyway, I don’t know if the server even has this information.

    Another thing, I did recently load the pluggin TinyMCComments (or something like that). The pluggin has some strange behavior patterns anyway, so I wonder if that could be causing problems.
