• I was trying to install my google adsense code into the sidebar.php on my WordPress blog but when I refreshed my site I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE. Something like syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/cannotdisclose/public_html/wp-
    My sidebar has gone!

I thought I could find/solve the problem but couldn’t, here is what it says now Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/stopsmok/public_html/wp

Can anyone offer some help or advice on what to do?

    Thank You!

    P.S. I’m using a different theme.

  • did you make a backup before you started your editing? upload the unedited sidebar.php

if you didnt make a backup, download the theme fresh, and get the unedited file out of the zip, and upload that.

    I didn’t make a backup…lesson learned!!!

I payed for the theme, where and how can I download the theme fresh? Would I have to pay for it again?

Thanks for offering your help with this!!

if u have downloaded the theme the original download file should still be on your pc locate it and grab the fresh sidebar and replace it with the (damaged)

you paid for the theme. ok. did you delete all the files after you got them? I assume you hazve a copy of purchased theme in a zip file on your local machine.

    There is your backup.

If you deleted that — go back to where you bought you the theme. I’ve no clue if you will need to pay for it again — Im not sure how you can expect anyone to answer that question unless we were that other person. ??

    I wasnt worried ??

    Thanks again

youre welcome ?? It is possible, btw, to tell you where you went wrong, but its more work, and requires more info than you provided. The best thing to do is as you get things things the way you want, make backups. That way, if you change item #1 successfully but bork changing item #2, you dont lose all the good changes you made by having to start completely over.
