I’m updateing the website for my locale airport (www.esml.se), came across this plugin. Installed it and I can not get the shortecodes to work. Using DIVI ( from https://www.elegantthemes.com ) and yes yes yes ?? everthing is “up to date”, latest wp, php version etc etc etc.
Can i ask for a “complete” shortcode exeample within the [ ] since i can not get it to work. Testing a few other plugin and using the shortcodes without any problem what so ever, but with OWM Weather it’s a rock solid “in my face no go”.

I will help translate as well if needed into Swedish or Dutch.

    Hi,

It will be easier to use the custom Weather post than trying to put a shortcode together manually. And even with shortcode parameters, you need a published Weather post.
Follow the below steps from the readme and you should be able to get it to work. Leave the API key empty while you are testing in case you just created it. New keys take hours before they are approved and ready to use.

    Creating your first weather:

    1. Go to Settings / OWM Weather. Enter your API key, if you have one. Check “Disable Bootstrap” if you already include Bootstrap in your theme. Leave all other settings as-is for now and “Save Changes”.
    2. Click on the new custom post type called “Weather” and create a “New Weather”
    3. Fill one of the tabs under “Get weather by…” or leave it empty for the user’s location by ip address
    4. Choose “Measurement System” Imperial for Fahrenheit and miles, or “Metric” for Celsius and kilometers.
    5. Choose “12” or “24” hour time format.
    6. Under the “Display” tab, select the fields you would like to display.
    7. “Publish” your weather.
    8. Put the shortcode “[owm-weather id=”XXX”/]” on a page or post, and look at the page.
You just created your first weather! Now you can add additional fields under “Display”, change the look-and-feel under “Layout” or add a map with layers under “Map”.

    Hello!
Thank you for getting back to me. I did get it to work however I think there are still something “going on”. No matter what i select, for example sun up/down, nothing change, the sun up/down is always show. Yes, I do save the settings. This issue is not just connected to the sun up/down, many more settings are ffected. Can i create a little film and send it to you somehow, please advice.

Yes, please. A little movie would make it easier to understand the issue.

I will try to explain what goes wrong however I like you to take a look at not responsive film I just made. I use a self made plugin for metar ( the 4 gadgets on top ) and your plugin is in the sidebar. As you can see the top gadgets are responsive (using the same background image as i use for your plugin) but i can not get your plugin responsive or stay within the image. I’ve tried to fiddle with the css but, no luck so far.

Is there any other way to contact you regarding my “problem” since i really like you lugin, like to use it, but the re-launch of the airport website is coming up and i have already postponed it. I really hate this kind of support (don’t take it the wrong way please) ?? because it’s 90% try to explain and i feel like i’m waitsing your time ??

You should be able to achieve your goal with a custom template. The predefined templates use bootstrap 4 and a lot of CSS that is tough to adjust after the fact.

The plugin provides all raw weather data in the array $owmw_data[] to the templates. (The icon is in $owmw_html[] though). When you switch to the Debug templates, you can take a look at all the data field names. Pick the ones you are interested in. Then follow the instruction on how to set up a custom template. With the template, you can generate the section within the gadget exactly the way you need it.

Again, thank you for the support, however, I’m pretty sure there is an issue when I use DIVI and with DIVI only (might be wrong here, might be a problem with Elementor as well but never tried it). If I use a default theme that comes with default WordPress installation I do not get the same issues as I get when using DIVI.

My “problem” is not solved, not for me anyhow, sorry to say, I will choose not to use your plugin as of now. One of the cons using bootstrap is as you told me and I knew from before, without hours of style Customization I will not “get what I want” and as of now I will not spend the hours, and all I can say about that is ¤%&¤&%¤, since I did really like the plugin. I will keep n eye out and maybe … ??

Can you pleae let me know if you have teted your plugin with DIVI?

Sorry to hear the plugin doesn’t fit your needs. It has not been tested specifically with Elementor or DIVI. I still believe the custom template option would be able to solve your layout issue. Anyhow, thanks for trying the plugin.

I stripped down the Boostrap CSS file that comes with OWM Weather so that it will not overwrite the template styles anymore. It is now safe to leave the system setting “Disable Bootstrap” unchecked. Please update to version 5.3.0 and try again.
