I need a ‘plain vanilla’ theme

  • Hi all

    Can anyone recommend a simple theme. I would like to use classic editor. I just want a few pages as per existing Astra site plus some blog pages. No shop, no fireworks just a workmanlike website.

    I do not need AI, blocks, Gutenberg, spectre or anything else that just complicates an already painful process. I don’t mind paying for a theme but I do mind spending days getting nowhere.

    I don’t do this for a living so I don’t have advanced skills, not any interest in the process.

    Does it need to be so awful?

    GeneratePress.

    Or any of WordPress’s own default non-block default themes (ie Twenty Twenty or earlier. Twenty Sixteen is my favorite. Note that the default themes are named for the year of their release and while they don’t receive a gazillion new features after their initial release, they continue to receive compatibility and security updates.)

    There is a lot of awful stuff out there indeed.

    Thankfully, they’re not forced on us.

    Many thanks for your input. I will have a look at 2016 etc.

    If I copy and past my existing text into a ,doc document can I paste it into a new theme from there?

    Something with a banner across the top and single column that list blog posts is what I am looking for as well.
