I need advice on moving my blog to a diferent host

Hey everybody,

My blog website, https://theinvestorsjournal.com is hosted by Yahoo! Unfortunately, when I purchased my domain, I knew very little about blogging. 3 weeks later, I’ve immersed myself in everything blogging. My site is slowly growing, but I have some big problems that Yahoo won’t help me with.

In particular, I moved my blog from the “/blog” directory to the root directory, but I can’t move the .htaccess file because Yahoo restricts it’s users from altering the .htaccess file. I called Yahoo and they said they couldn’t move it either. It’s complete BS. So now I can’t have a good URL structure, which I’ve read is crucial for search engine optimization. Instead I have that default “?p=XID” url structure. It’s awful. Yahoo recommended I completely reinstall my blog in the root directory (I don’t think it even allows you to do that with the Yahoo wordpress installer).

So now I want to move my blog to a real host. Am I going to be in for a huge headache? Does anyone have experience in this?
