I need Help Pls on a Parse Error

  • Hi

    I am tearing my hair out. I have a parse error. It shows on my blog at the top of the side bar and nothing shows in the side bar.

    The error says….parse error, syntax error unexpecte ‘?’

    I have searched everywhere for the answer but as I havn’t a clue what it is I cant find the answer. I see answers to similar errors but not mine.

    Can any one help please it is driving me mad for two days now and I cant get anything done.

    Sorry, I am completely new to wordpress and definately new to html and all that so I don’t really know what I am doing.

    The error message at the very bottom of your blog gives you the clue. Open sidebar.php and have a look – especially at line 57

    hey LenK many thanks. Had not looked at the bottom of blog.

    Have looked at sidebar php and counted down to line 57.

    could you give me one more clue please, what am i looking for on line 57?

    Hi LenK

    Hey thanks to you I fixed it. I took a look at line 57 when I had pasted it into the wordpress pastebin.

    As the error message was syntax unexpected ‘?’, I noticed that at the end of line 57 there was a ?, when I looked at all the other ? marks they had the sybol > after them so I inseterd one on line 57 and hey presto.

    Now having learned that lesson with your kind help I will make it part of my learning to understand why this was needed. But if I could just ask one more question for now to help me understand.

    Why would tis suddenly have occured after the upgrade as it was not a problem before?
