• Hello,

I hope somebody can help me, I’m new to contact forms 7 and am struggling to setup my form. I cant seem to get the form to supply the sender name and email address when its sends the information through to email? Its driving me a bit mad and I need to find a solution asap.

The theme I’m using has its own setup form templates and when checking them the code and shortcodes seem fine so the error must be with me?

I think i’m getting confused as want the form message to be sent to [email protected] when submitted, which it does fine. The problem is that the message doesn’t show who the form submission is from or their email in the message that comes through on email?? Whenever I use the shortcode [your-name] in the ‘from’ field I get a message stating that this information isn’t from or made up of my own domain?? I’m getting in a real muddle and need help so the form works correctly and displays the sender name, email address and message when it comes through. That sound simple but the error message I get when I fill out the ‘from’ field is causing issues and not sure why this is happening. Please could somebody help me? Happy to show form and code if needed as just need the problem sorting asap. Thanks in advance!

  • Hey, sorry if you already saw this, but did you check this part of the FAQ?
I had this problem as well, I guess since you send this mail from your server you shouldn’t let it pretend that it was sent from a different server.
I would suggest you put something like “Homepage Contact <[email protected]>” (or another mail address that belongs to your domain) in the From-Section, then maybe create a subject like “New Contact Request by [your-name] [your-email]” and create a reply-to as explained in the FAQ in the section following the one I linked.
    Hope this helps!
