• Okay, so let’s try this again.

I need help. I need Plugins. I upgraded my account to www.ads-software.com (a domain) about two weeks ago. I was not aware of Plugins then, and I wasn’t aware that I should be granted access to them after my upgrade.

    Hence, the problem.

I realize that nobody with a wordpress.com account has Plugins. I know this. That is not my situation. My situation is that, despite my paid account upgrade to a domain, I am yet missing functions from my administration panel. Can anybody tell me why/ how this might have happened, and how I may resolve it, without cancelling my account? I would really appreciate it. Really. I’m at the end of my rope, here.

  • When you say that you have “upgraded” to www.ads-software.com, do you mean that you have your own site on your own domain and have installed wordpress?

Your wordpress.com account remains even after you’ve created another site with your own downloaded version of wordpress; it doesn’t change at all, as far as I know.

www.ads-software.com requires the installation of .php index files to your web host (Bluehost.com in my case). From there, plug ins are downloaded and dropped into specific directories with an ftp uploader of some sort (Filezilla in my case).

It sounds to me like you’ve signed up for a www.ads-software.com account, but your installation is far from complete. Then again, I’m no expert. Good luck.

Okay, so either a) this has to do with the fact that my domain doesn’t swap to godaddy.com for another, like, 60 days, or

    b) I have not yet installed all of the proper files? Where are these files, and how could I have possibly missed that part of the process??

ps…thanks for responding, bc I am soooooo flippin’ frustrated at this point, I don’t even know what to do with myself. Plus, I think it’s more than just the Plugins tab I’m missing…I have no way of uploading files onto my dashboard or anything! I hate this…I absolutely hate this so much…

Yes, that is what I mean. But now it seems possible that I didn’t download everything? Ughh…this process should be more intuitive for sub-par techies (like me)… lol (not funny, actually…I wish I wasn’t so dumb about this stuff).

    Hi,

You can install plugin either from wordpress admin panel or via ftp to your blog directory/wp-contents/plugins folder. After that activate it from wordpress admin panel.

You can access wordpress blog admin panel at here:

    blog installed directory/wp-login.php

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I appreciate you trying to help, and I certainly don’t mean to be rude, but I honestly have no idea how to do that—or even what you’re talking about, really.

And was that last bit meant to be a link? Cuz it didn’t show up as one for me…I think one of the major issues, here is that I need to know PHP’s are…I’m sorry if I’m an ignoramous about all this!

    A url might help.

sorry i didn’t realize you would need that…

I see you’re still getting the “parked” page. Did you install wordpress following the directions here?

    Thread Starter znichols1981

    Is it still parked now?

When I click on the link you provided, I see the page you mentioned elsewhere, “This page is parked free, courtesy of Automattic.”

znichols, feel free to email me at [email protected] if you’d like.

Thanks for the offer, and I might just take you up on it, if installing Windows Web Platformer doesn’t work. Although, it’s troubling that I my site is parked all of a sudden. That happened to me the other day, too, and then it went away. I donno…i am very close to giving up on this whole thing, i think…

dunno what windows web “platformer” will do for you, but first you need to get DNS sorted out. You need to get your domain name pointed to your new host.

Right now (as I type this) you’re displaying your WordPress.com blog at that URL.

    (@znichols1981)

I really don’t know what Platformer will do for me, either…I was just trying to follow the detailed directions and recommendations, and crossing my fingers all the time that something will give.

And yes, awesome, you are an admin? Super!

Ok. I need to sort out my DNS. That’s fine, but in what way? I mean, I know that I can access it at the domain, but do i configure it there? Parked, forwarded, what?

I am sorry if I sound annoyed (and clearly I am either unusually stupid, or else this is an unusual problem I’m having with my site). It’s prolly my fault that everything in so ef-ed up, but I really want to resolve this NOW. I’m tired of wasting so much time trying to use something I payed for (although I understand that I am supposed to have some technical knowledge, but if i knew it would be an outright quagmire of tech expertise, I would have thought twice before I upgraded my account).

    Thanks. Please help?
