I need to hear about Best Practices for a blog

I started a blog recently called https://www.wepayforthat.com I’m hoping to generate content from the cloud. I’m not sure what the best practise is for that. I currently have it set up so anyone can register. However when they do it says an email with a password will be sent out. It never comes. (I guess that’s an aside) But more to the point I’m wondering if it’s best to have people “comment” on an invitiaon post asking for submissions (that’s how I have it set up currently) or should I have them register and log in before they can post a new comment. I’m looking for examples of wasteful government spending. Thansk for your feedback
