I recommend this plugin over BuddyPress!

This plugin is way more flexible than BuddyPress, and with a few tweaks via the Code Snippets plugin, you can do anything with it – I’m certain that you can make almost any type of membership site with this plugin and WooCommerce (for paid membership roles)! ??
