• I suddenly can not save any html to my blog posts, and my computer will save it as a blank php post file instead.

It just occurred to me that it may be due to the new WordPress 3.6.1, yet I have an older version of FireFox (8.0.1) browser and an Mac OS X 10.5.8. Would this be my problem?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I also can not save any media (along with html) to my blog posts.

Are you hosted at GoDaddy? I’ve been having issues with 3.6.1 and posting at GoDaddy as has at least one other member in the last 5 minutes.

Yes, I am hosting through Go Daddy.

Also, whenever I do attempt to add html or media to my blog post this message shows up at the top…

“The backup of this post in your browser is different from the version below. Restore the backup.”

What version of PHP are you guys running on your server?

EDIT: Are you using the CKEditor plugin?

Does anyone actually have any solutions to this besides the “switch themes, deactivate plugins, and etc…” advice?

It’s pretty clear that this is a GoDaddy problem…given that many people have the same basic issues today — though these issues have also been going on for several months – here’s one thread on it –

How do I figure out which version of PHP I am running on my server?

I am not using the CKEditor plugin.

    My apologies.

I’m going with @wpyogi (hey girl ?? on this one! I believe she is absolutely correct.

After reading, I believe it has something to do with the security settings on GoDaddy.

Other people were able to get around this issue by calling GoDaddy and requesting to have their IP whitelisted.

Perhaps this will work for you too; until GoDaddy gets sorted out.

I have a feeling this is an issue with the new WordPress 3.6.1 and it not yet being aligned with how Go Daddy FTP is currently set up.

    Found in WordPress News:
WordPress 3.6.1 Maintenance and Security Release
Posted September 11, 2013 by Andrew Nacin. Filed under Releases, Security.

Here are two changes with the new 3.6.1 that could be the issue:

Block unsafe PHP unserialization that could occur in limited situations and setups, which can lead to remote code execution. Reported by Tom Van Goethem.

Fix insufficient input validation that could result in redirecting or leading a user to another website. Reported by Dave Cummo, a Northrup Grumman subcontractor for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I am thinking this because this whole thing starting being an issue for me today when I was trying to get the right html code in (sometimes accidently using css instead of html) and using code that would link to other websites.

Hmmm, I just don’t know otherwise, and I’m slowly turning into my avitar image! lol!

btw Josh, I posted that last comment just now before I read your comment! I will call Go Daddy and request to have my IP whitelisted. Thank you! God, I hope this works!! ??

Here is what I found from another post/member that I am hoping is actually the issue…

The problem was solved on my website. Nothing was wrong with my web code and nothing is wrong with your WordPress setup. There is nothing you can do on YOUR side to fix this.
I contacted their [Go Daddy] tech support and asked them to whitelist my IP address in their ModSecurity settings so I won’t get flagged as a spammer. Now I don’t get the blank page anymore. It is the ModSecurity that thinks you are a spambot after adding or modifying few things in 1-2 minutes. I think their security settings are way too strict.
Hopefully your IP is static or at least a cable connection so it doesn’t change the addresses after every modem reboot.
    Good luck!

Imullerdesigns is right. I’ve been having this problem on my GoDaddy hosted WordPress sites since last August. (This is funny, because my testing sites all work on Bluehost just fine.)

I called GoDaddy and asked them to whitelist me on ModSecurity, and they refused. Said it’s against their policy. They told me all they could do for me was turn on my error logs, have me deactivate my themes and plugins, and that’s all they could do.

She also said any saved passwords in your browser could trigger the ModSecurity settings to think you’re a spambot. Apparently, even when I’m writing a blog post and uploading pictures on my own website, that’s “suspicious” behavior.

Being a web admin and all, that really definitely doesn’t fly.
