    I think I broke it …
TablePress no longer appears on my installed plugins …
nor on the list of plugins .

When I try to reinstall it, I get an error message saying “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.” but I can’t find the destination folder to delete it!

    PLEASE HELP!!!

I WAS trying to add an Amazon Associates code to the footer to all the “pages” on my site using another plugin (Insert Headers and Footers) and I must have done something UNINTENTIONAL to the TablePress code …. How do I fix TablePress, or reinstall it?

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

That sounds strange. Please log in to your server via FTP and check if there is a (maybe empty) folder “tablepress” in the /wp-content/plugins/ directory. If yes, please delete it. After that, you can re-install TablePress from within your WordPress admin dashboard.

I’m not sure how to log in to the server via ftp … unfortunately I am not the GoDaddy account holder, just the administrator of this website.

I’m really struggling with as I have no backup except for the original data in an excel spreadsheet.

    Hi,

logging in via FTP or other admin interface is the only way that I see here. You would therefore have to get that login information from the site owner then, or ask them to delete that “tablepress” folder.

    Solved it!!!!

Because I am only the administrator and not the site owner, I couldn’t access the ftp site, but I installed a plug-in called File Manager and hey presto! I deleted TablePress from the list and reinstalled it. Now working perfectly …Thanks.

I have another question about sorting a table: I want to remove the sort from one column but still want the column sorted when any other column is sorted. Should I start a new topic?

    Hi,

great! Indeed, using a plugin like File Manager is also a good way for this. Should have thought about that.

Regarding your new question: Yes, in general, a new topic would have been good, but now we can keep the discussion here. For that, add this to the “Custom Commands” text field on the table’s “Edit” screen:

    "columnDefs": [ { "orderable": false, "targets": [ 2, 4 ] } ]

This example would remove the sorting controls from the third and fifth column (counting the columns starts with 0!).

    Tobias
