I haven’t been on my blog in months; I’ve been dealing with cancer treatments. But it’s a religion-related blog, and today is Ash Wednesday, and I thought it was past time to get back to it.

There were all kinds of updates nagging me to install them. So I did, and they wrecked the site. I don’t even know how to get back to the dashboard now.

Can someone help? I am not a techie – obviously.

I can’t even sign in or out, which is troubling.

The link didn’t show up in my initial post: https://www.graceprayernet.org/

    Have you tried:
-deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

You can do this with ftp or by using the file manager your host provides.
Rename the plugins folder plugins-old and the atahualpa theme folder atahualpa-old.

I deactivated them all. Nothing happened.

I really don’t know what I’m doing here! Is there any way to just get what I had back?

    Thank you!

Try renaming the active theme folder –

    wp-content
        themes
            atahualpha.HOLD

I know this will sound really stupid, but where do I find the active theme folder?

Where do I find ANY folder?

Didn’t you already do what was posted above? You’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel to access your site files on the server – see:

    https://my.hostmonster.com/cgi/help/87

Once you get logged in to Cpanel – find the file manager for your site and you’ll see the various WP files – find the wp-content folder and first rename the plugins folder:

    wp-content
         plugins.HOLD

If that doesn’t do anything, rename the current theme as above.

I don’t know what that is. A friend set it up for me, and I’ve just been trying to update it as I go along.

If you need more help with accessing Cpanel on your server, you’ll need to ask Hostmonster (your site host) for help. That’s not part of WP so they’ll be the ones to help you.

I can’t even remember the password (the miracle of chemo brain), but I sent them something. Thank you for your help.

I’m afraid to turn off my computer for fear I won’t be able to get back in. What a mess!

Sorry for all the trouble – it’s almost always very fixable – really :)! Just get that info and post back if you need more help.

BTW, turning off your computer shouldn’t cause any problems with WP.

Thanks! I’ll see if I get any response from Hostmonster.

    I appreciate your kindness.

Update: Hostmonster was useless, but the friend who set up the page for me was able to get in and fix the important things.

Thank you again for your help!

Glad to hear that :)! You’re welcome and best wishes.
