    Thanks for reaching out about your robots.txt file. First, please update from Yoast SEO v16.8 to v19.11, as you’re missing out on bug fixes and new features. For instance, in v19.0, the plugin now adds your XML sitemap link(s) to your robots.txt file — if you want. And in v19.7.1, we even improved the copy in the robots.txt comment.

    Regarding editing the robots.txt file, if you do not see the ‘File Editor’ option in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Tools, this may mean that file editing is disabled on your WordPress installation. You may have to reach out to your web hosting provider as it’s likely that the following directive is in your wp-config.php file:

    define( 'DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true );
