    Hi,
I have decided to change the structure of my URLs, so that they’ll be shorter and make more sense. The only problem I have is that my site has hundreds of pages and they all have lots of Facebook Likes, Tweets and Google +1’s.

Is there any way I can change the URL structure while still keeping all that social media interaction on the site? It would seem such a shame to lose all the great interaction we’ve had.

    Best,
    Russ

You’ll need to set up 301 redirects for each of teh pages when their URL’s change. There’s a lot of good plugins for that, with my favourite being the Simple 301 Redirects. That will do exactly what you’re looking for.

so, did you do it? does 301 redirects help? I’m facing the same problem and redirection seems not to solve the problem with fb likes disappear.

WP automaticly redirect default permalink to new i.e. /postname/ format, why doesn’t FB follow this?
