I used WebP and after this I upgraded plugin to use Avif, but I don’t like the quality I see in Google images and I want to go back to WebP. I am also concerned about SEO and google support of Avif.

I unchecked the Avif format and forced the conversion of all images again choosing the middle between optimal and Lossless, but the website is showing Avif again.

My question is how to return to WebP and if I want to change the quality of WebP to a higher grade (or lower if I decide), is moving the toggle and force conversion of all images doing the magic?

    Thank you.

    Hi @asenb,

    Thank you for your message.

In this situation, please deactivate the plugin and uninstall the plugin via the WordPress panel. You can also manually delete the directory:

    /wp-content/uploads-webpc/

Could you give me your website URL? I will do the analysis for you before you even delete the AVIF files.

    Best,
    Mateusz

Hello Mateusz, yes the site is peach-pump .com .I want to return to WebP, I stopped the Avif and now they are 99% WebP and 80% Avif, but avif is showing in Chrome, and the quality doesn’t seem very good. They are professional photos, my colleges compress them at Picassa first, because they are huge, maybe the two compressions interact, I don’t know. Lately, I have problems in Microsoft Edge as well, not showing some of the images. Are WebP images better for Google images SEO? Than you very much for your help.

@asenb Could you point out which exact images have worse quality? Please give me their URLs.

@asenb Could you take a screenshot and mark on that screenshot exactly which image you are referring to?
