There are a lot of people on a lot of Reddit threads and WordPress forums who are trying to get the click to play image over the YouTube videos to work on their websites and doesn’t know about this plugin at all.

I was so happy when I found your plugin, but sadly it’s not working after I activated it, even though that I updated the posts and published some new posts with YouTube videos, too.

Hope you can help me to fix it, plus, I’m very excited for the upcoming features!

    Hi Kaleyko,

have you added the Youtube link (must look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJNR2EpS0jw) on a single line? You mustn’t have any space or word on the same line.

Would you please send me the link to your site?

    Regards,

    Kevin

In my website I use the embedded code, because I think it’s safer for the future. I mean, WordPress doesn’t convert the YouTube link to an embedded code and that’s why I don’t use it.

What if one day I decided to switch to another platform that doesn’t recognize the YouTube link and it must be embedded code?

However, I’m going to try putting just a link and see if it’s working or not.

    Thanks for the reply!

OMG! IT’S WORKING. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    Now I have two questions:

    1. Apparently, I can’t wait until the next version to change the click to play button. Is there anyway I could modify it? (Something like Boing Boing does with their embedded videos: https://boingboing.net/2014/01/23/time-to-coo-over-baby-animals.html If you focus enough you will see that they’re using something like a broken old TV pattern gif/effect under the click to play button.) Could I do it manually?

    2. As you know, the click to play won’t make iOS play the videos at all. Is this fixable with the next version? Or at least, for now, is there anyway that I could display the functionality of your plugin if someone opened my website on any iOS video?

Thanks again for your time and I really appreciate your support.

    Yeah, that’s great ??

    1.)
You can change the play button by adding some custom CSS to your theme, e.g.:
    .lazy-load-vimeo-div { background: url(images/play-button.png) center center no-repeat; }
Replace “images/play-button.png” with the URL to your own button image.

    2.)
For now, it’s not fixable. But it’s on my to do list.

    Regards,

    Kevin

PS: Would be great if you give this plugin a five star rating here. Thanks!
