UPDATE: I wrote the post below prior to realizing the following:

The information below refers to a blog that is part of a two-blog, multisite install. When I go to Network Admin -> Jetpack -> Sites, I only see one of the two blogs. I disconnected from Jetpack, deactivated and deleted the plugin, reinstalled it, and reauthorized the Jetpack connection from the Network Admin controls. After doing so, I am again only seeing one of the two blogs. I am assuming that explains why I am encountering the problem below. (The blog that is missing in Network -> Jetpack -> Sites is the one associated with the error I’m encountering below.)

Hoping you can help me figure out why the site is missing from the Jetpack Sites list.

Hi, I am trying to publish a draft on my self-hosted blog via iA Writer iOS. When I do so, I am getting the following error:

“Forbidden Request: 403 (forbidden) Make sure your account is allowed to post.”

The blog to which I am attempting to publish this draft is one of three self-hosted blogs that are all connected to my wordpress.com account via jetpack. I am able to publish drafts from iA Writer to the other two blogs without a problem.

When I view my connected apps in my WordPress.com profile (https://wordpress.com/me/security/connected-applications), iA Writer is shown and contains the following info:

    Application Website
    https://ia.net/writer

    Authorized On

    Access ScopeGlobal
This connection is allowed to manage all of your blogs on WordPress.com, including any Jetpack blogs that are connected to your WordPress.com account.

View and manage posts including reblogs and likes.
View and manage a post’s comments.
View and manage a site’s tags and categories.
    Follow and unfollow blogs.
View and manage a user’s notifications.
    View stats for a site.
    Manage a site’s media library.
View and manage a site’s menus.

I’ve tried disconnecting and then reconnecting the app both at WordPress.com and via the iA Writer app, all to no avail.

I am able to publish to the blog in question without a problem via the web and the WordPress iOS app.

    Please advise.

    Hi there,

Is https://ia.net/writer one of the two sites in your multisite network? I don’t see any Jetpack connection for that site.

From Jetpack’s perspective, different sites in a multisite network are completely separate sites, and each site must have its own individual connection with Jetpack in order to make use of Jetpack’s features. Simply connecting the main site does not automatically create connections for other sites in the network.

It sounds like you installed Jetpack on the network level, so it’s already installed on the site itself, correct? If not, log into wp-admin on the site itself and install and activate Jetpack, and then connect that site to Jetpack directly.

Let me know if you run into any trouble with that.

No, https://ia.net/writer is the URL for the iA Writer app, which is the app in which I was encountering the problem.

I had connected both sites individually, both were shown on WordPress.com, and yet I still was encountering the publishing error.

I disconnected both sites, and then connected only the site that previously was throwing the error in iA Writer. It worked. I then re-connected the second site, and everything remained function, no more error. Not sure what the difference was, but it appears I’m all set. Thanks for the reply.

    Thanks for clarifying.

If the problem is in the iA Writer app I’m not sure there’s much we can do from our end, as we don’t control that app.

I’m glad to hear reconnecting helped in this case, but should this happen again it might be a good idea to contact the developers of that app directly so they can troubleshoot it on their end.
