Hi. I wrote about a week ago about the iCal feed that Events Manager puts out. I’m still having trouble. Nothing will read it. I’ve tried the Mac Calendar app, Google Calendar, and the iCalendar Validator at https://severinghaus.org/projects/icv/. I’ve deleted the Templates directory from my Theme folder to make sure there’s nothing that’s adding anything to the formatting. angelo_nwl said he tried it on a test site and the Validator worked, which is quite puzzling to me. Is there something else that my theme (X Theme from Themeco) could be adding to it that’s messing it up? Any thoughts?

When I use it, the Validator says this: Sorry, your calendar could not be parsed.
Error: Error was: Error at line 11854: Expected [VCALENDAR], read [VCALENDAR]
    Cause:
    Context for line 11854:
    11851: LOCATION:Custer Road UMC – Room 109
    11852: URL:https://crumc.org/events/the-men-god-uses-2021-01-29/
    11853: END:VEVENT
    11854: END:VCALENDAR<!– html is corrupted –>

    The Calendar app says:
There was an error subscribing to the calendar.
The data downloaded from https://crumc.org/events.ics isn’t valid.

    Google Calendar says:
We could not parse the calendar at the url requested.

    Am I doing something wrong?

When I look at the file at https://crumc.org/events.ics, it certainly looks like a valid file.

We are adding a mobile app that will have a calendar, and we’ll need to pull the calendar info off the website’s iCal feed, so I’m really hoping I can make this work. Otherwise I may need to go with another calendar plugin, even though our site is heavily invested with this one.

it seems that this line is being added at the end <!– html is corrupted –> ? are you using custom code or modify any EM template?

Thanks for writing back, Angelo. YES – I think you’re onto something.

So, here’s what’s weird: When I download events.ics and open it in a text reader, the last 2 lines are:
    END:VEVENT
    END:VCALENDAR

But when the URL is used with the iCal Validator (and, I’m guessing, with the other feed readers), that “html corrupted” tag shows up at the end of the last line.

I’m not using any EM template. I wonder what’s causing that to be added… Let me take a stab at disabling some plugins and see if something would be making that happen. I’m guessing this is what we’d call “unexpected behavior”, huh? Doesn’t seem like a problem anyone else has had. Hmmm. I’ll see if I can discover why it might be happening. Thanks for the insight! Let me know if you have any other thoughts.

RESOLVED! WP Fastest Cache plugin was causing the problems. I tried every option with the plugin, even excluding events.ics, but still, the only thing that worked was disabling it completely. So I’ll just go look for another caching plugin. Thanks for the help!
