    Hi, have the latest version of Events Manager running on the latest version of WordPress.

    Really need the iCal files to work but keep getting the following message:

    “iCal can’t read this calendar file. No events have been added to your iCal calendar.”

    Can’t understand why as it imports ical files ok from your demo site.
    Please help.

    hmm, I see what you mean but when I try to paste your events.ics contents at https://icalvalid.cloudapp.net/ it’s 100% okay ? also, your events.ics looks ok in text editors.

    that’s the strange thing about it. The ics code looks ok, it parses via https://icalvalid.cloudapp.net/ ok, yet when you click on the iCal event link, it doesn’t get added to the icalendar and still returns the failure message: “iCal can’t read this calendar file. No events have been added to your iCal calendar.”

    hey Marcus! you had a chance to check out the link above? any ideas to get the ical ics files working? be appreciated as really want to use this plugin (as it has all the other elements I need) but need the ics files to work.

    Hiya!

    As you suggested earlier, this appears to be a problem with robots.txt rather than the iCal feed.

    When I tried to add it to my Google Calendar I received this message;

    Could not fetch the URL because robots.txt prevents us from crawling the URL.

    Your robots.txt has the following;

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /

    That tells Google it is not allowed to look at your site, and is the reason why Google Calendar doesn’t work.

    First, check your privacy settings within WordPress at Settings > Reading > Search Engine Visibility. If that setting is ticked, untick it. You’ll have to wait for Google to reindex your robots.txt before it’ll work again.

    Cheers,
    Phil

    The issue for me is not Google Calendar link, it’s the ics to add to ical on Mac or iPhone.

    I have added the Google Calendar link to temp page here:

    https://showroombook.com/events/test-event/

    and the Google calendar link works fine with disallowed robots.

    Will change next to allow robots to see if that affects ics for ical.

    no, didn’t work. Changed to allow robots but ics file still not working. Any ideas Marcus? any code I should change or update to get the ical working?

    Hi all,

    I tried to import my Event Manager events.ics fedd into Google Agenda and I got exactly the same error than 286blue.

    May be I can make some testing to help.

    Let me know.

    if you can post a link to your ics files (or your domain), then i can try it out

    @christian, your issue is different, as this is exclusive to desktop clients. Try https://icalvalid.cloudapp.net/ and post links etc. in a new thread.

    Thanks Marcus, look forward to what you come up with to get the ical working. It’s a great plugin for creating and laying out events, and will be perfect for my needs once the ical ics works too.

    just noticed there was a plugin update which i updated but still not working. Did this include a fix for ics files not working in ical?

    Hiya,

    I don’t believe that update did include a fix, no – but Marcus is working on it.

    Cheers,
    Phil
