  • We provide a link on month view (and other views, but that’s a good example) which lets you download an .ical format file containing event data – take a look here for an example:

    https://wpshindig.com/events/

(Look below the calendar grid, on the right).

    Hope that helps!

    Hi there,

Is there any means by which – if a user has exported the ical file for the month – but then events are added/edited after the fact, to sync without re-exporting the ical file? or at least some means of doing it that will only import the new dates or changed dates without the user having a number of duplicate entries in their calendar?

We are using it for a sport’s team site and the dates can be somewhat fluid.

Thanks for any insight you can give.

    Subscribe to the URL webcal://example.com/events/ical

As your subscription updates the feed, newer events should be added.

    Hi Andy,
    Thanks a lot for answering.
I must be missing something – because when I try that url (with my own domain of course – webcal://2002aasabres.com/events/ical ) it comes up as not found.
I am sure I am doing something incorrectly or need to change how something is configured.
Are there any steps you can recommend i double check?
    Thanks again

kordic27, you must set your permalinks for something other than default.

I’ll have to look at the code as I don’t think it’s returning a complete list of events.

    Howdy kordic27,

Andy’s suggestion sounds like exactly what you are looking for. If you do not wish to change your permalinks, then try the following URL instead:
    webcal://2002aasabres.com/?post_type=tribe_events&ical=1

    Hope that helps. Cheers!

    Hi guys,
THanks to both of you for trying to help me out. Full disclosure – this is my first time trying to use wordpress so I have been slow to fully understand all of the nuances, so I appreciate your help and patience.
Anyway, that link above did not work either. I have screen captured my permalinks – so maybe that will provide some insight into what i am doing wrong?
    Thanks again,
    kordic27 (aka Manfred)

    Manfred,
You need to change the permalinks to something other than default.

ok, thanks. I did that. I changed it to ‘post name’.
I also updated the .htaccess file so the existing links that broke now work using the new format. So, that part is all good.
    however this link: webcal://2002aasabres.com/events/ical
still comes up as not found.
any thoughts to where I might go from here?
    thanks
    M

M, I used the link that Brook supplied and was able to subscribe.

    Hi Andy et al,
Thanks for getting back to me – again.

Hmmm, that is weird. It still does not work for me. I am at the point where I think I must be missing something obvious. I have plugged that URL (webcal://2002aasabres.com/?post_type=tribe_events&ical=1) into my phone’s browser as well as to my laptop’s IE, Chrome and Firefox it comes up with nothing.

If i use the alternate https://2002aasabres.com/?post_type=tribe_events&ical=1 — it does create an ical file to download – but it does create duplicates if you have already done an import and also it doesn’t seem to import all of the dates… just the first 10 or so…

(when I use the ical button on the site itself, it seems to import ALL of the date).

So, I am not sure what I am doing wrong…
