    Hello,

For most users/ customers it is too complicated to generate a YouTube API key and would be sufficient enough to just have an option to upload a generic image, which could be used instead.

If there is interest and this is on Github I may also provide a PR for this feature.

    Thank you,

    Adrian

    true

hmmm … not sure really. if people don’t fill in an API key LYTE will show a thumbnail anyway (for video’s, not playlists), so this might not be a big issue anyhow?

    what do you think?

I mean the thumbnail. This is directly loaded from YouTube, when no API key is provided.

It would be great to be able to upload a generic thumbnail, which will be used instead. So no data is loaded from YouTube until the user clicks the button.

ah OK. I see that “Cache thumbnails locally?” doesn’t seem to work when the API key isn’t present, I’ll look into that ??

ok, just committed a fix on Github, if you could download the plugin zipfile from Github and test that if “cache thumbnails locally” is on you will see the thumbnail not being served from youtube also if no API key was provided?

    Awesome! Works.

Great to see a fast responding and committed developer here.

    Thanks,

Super! I’ll probably release LYTE 1.7.2 later this week/ early next week; I have one more small feature in mind which I’d like to add; a text-box on the settings page for text that will be shown underneath each LYTE video, ideal to add some privacy disclaimer.

Super – like the one I already added with your support ??

indeed, but no need for a code snippet any more (which is not _that_ user-friendly) ??

    ??

    @optimizingmatters:

would you consider some kind of interface where you could specify the text for each video, so each video could have different text?

I’d love to see the same thing with the thumbnail as well. The ability to use the user interface to specify a thumbnail for each video on the site would be greatly appreciated.

afraid that is not on the table now @emilyatal, this will be a one-size fits all video’s solution.

OK my (mostly German?) friends; I just added a disclaimer field on the options-screen. If something is filled in, it is shown under each LYTE embedded video. Hope some of you are ready to test this, just download LYTE from Github (disable the normal one) and tell me if all works OK.

Never mind, I was impatient again and pushed 1.7.2 out. If any (major) issue let me know and I’ll be happy to fix asap ??

    Super!
But how do I change the layout of the new text underneath the video?

You should be able to target it with CSS using the lL class Kay.
