Ideal Empty Bank list (Ideal 2.0)

I’d like to clarify a few points to help resolve the misunderstanding:

1. Removal of the Bank Selector Dropdown:?In the 7.5.5 update, the bank selector dropdown was intentionally removed. This was a planned change as part of the iDEAL 2.0 upgrade. However, this change does not impact the payment processing at all. Payments could always be made with or without selecting a bank from a dropdown. But now this functionality was no longer necessary and a requirement from iDEAL to remove.
2. No Impact on Payment Process:?Users can still initiate and complete iDEAL payments successfully without the bank selector. There’s no need to downgrade or clear options; the payment flow should work smoothly. If payments are not going through, the issue is unlikely related to the removal of the bank selector.
3. Updating Your Store:?If you have a description message like “Select your bank” saved that references the old bank selector, it’s best to update or remove this text to reflect the current process. This will avoid confusion for your customers.

To provide further clarity, we have prepared two short videos:

• The?first video?demonstrates that payments work perfectly after the update.
• The?second video?shows how you can remove or update the “Select your bank” description, as there is no longer a need for this instruction.

I can only give you the best Gen-Z reply to your answer: “The AUDACITY”! ?? Ofcourse I know the setting was intentionally removed; but it DOES affect payment because, as I said, there is a very specific BUG that you haven’t tested for. It is just not only in my install – but maybe specific to my theme or pluginset. ??

I have taken the time to show you a bug in your plugin (and pointing out how/where to fix it) and you come with a reply that there is no issue. But there is.

Let me tell it again in other ways
The bug comes up in this situation:

1) Situation Pre July 2024: You have an install (pre jul 2024!) and you have enabled the option to show a list of banks. Pre July 2024 this install worked perfectly and you can pay; no issues whatsoever. ??

2) Post July 2027: You upgrade to 7.7.0. Looking at the user side of website you will still see the “list of banks” area, but it is empty. You can not progress payment because it says smthing like : “select your bank first” which you can’t.

The fix would be to turn off the option “Show list of banks” in the admin area but that option is not available in 7.70. Just the clearing of the text like in your example video does not fix the issue. ??

To fix this you have to first downgrade(7.5.3 works), UNselect the ShowBanks option, upgrade again to 7.7 and then it works bercause the setting is off. There might still be code in 7.7 that responds when the setting is available in the database?

The real fix is that when you upgrade to anything above 7.5.5 and the install detects that the options is still ON that you disable (auto-empty) that “Show list of banks” setting (and text) (or at least make it so that it doesn’t cause an issue). That is all.

Judging by other comments in this support-forum there are other people wasting time fixing this “Empty-bank-list” issue. So I’m thinking you can save people a lot of debug-time giving this small issue a little effort ??
