I need a buyer to certify they are qualified to purchase a product. Products are tests and assessments that require one of three levels of professional qualifications. Currently there are no restrictions, but I am now compelled to limit sales to those qualified to use and score several tests and assessments.

    It gets better…

A buyer must certify for each product that has a qualification level. So it seems this needs to happen when a buyer adds the product requiring certification to his or her cart.

Optionally, a conditional logic question that when properly answered, would display the “Add To Cart button would work just fine.

Due to browser tech, a popup won’t work.

Any ideas that will rattle the braincan appreciated.

  • Hello,

I understand you would like to allow the customer to buy a product depending on “3 levels”.

You can create memberships for your customers, then restrict the context, please check:
    https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-memberships-restrict-content/

Also, please take a look on this article it explains briefly how to sell online courses with a restricted area.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

If you can get by with a user-selection that enables your Add to Cart button for each product for which professional qualification is necessary; i.e., you’re trusting the user to be honest about their qualification(s), I have a suggestion that will work out-of-the-box with WooCommerce.

Set each product for which you need the qualification check up as a variable product, then add an Attribute of “I certify that I am a…,” “Professional Qualification,” or whatever you want to call it, with a variation for each professional level. Once you do that, the Add to Cart Button will be disabled until the user selects one of the three variations (professional qualifications) that qualifies them to buy the product.

You can add some explanatory text in the product’s Short Description describing the need to select the professional qualification to purchase the product if needed.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Best.

Awesome feedback. Sorry for the delay. I have looked at your membership plugin Igor and the main concern my client had was keeping all the products visible regardless if someone is logged in. Many competitive websites offer registration areas that get the certification questions answered.

As linux4m2 stated, we do have to rely on honesty, but in our case, what really matters is that we have a process that demands an answer which covers our buttocks. The products are educational in nature so there are no threats to mankind if an unqualified user applies the tech. They will just be less capable at interpreting the reports.

I like the variable option as mentioned by linux4me2, but we will still probably add a plugin that allows us to add the qualifying questions to new and existing registrations.

So thanks for these excellent answers. I actually have the page for “WooCommerce Memberships Restrict Content” open and was reading this prior to logging back in. I didn’t see any notices of responses.

    Hi @wudman

Just as my two cents on it, this reminds me of the Gamification extension where you can limit some product accessibility to the users with a particular rank or a badge.

Also, this conditional content extension may work too:

Thanks for that idea as well. That was one of the rabbit holes I was diving in, but a different plugin. The client is cool with the variable product mod and then a plugin to customize the registration process.

    You’re welcome!

Feel free to create another topic if you need help with anything else.

    Cheers
