Ideas for podcast plugin in the sidebar

  • Hi all – I work for a company that wants to have a podcast player in the sidebar. Right now we use PowerPress but I can’t find a setting/widget in it to put the player into our sidebar. I’m even open to trying a different plugin if there is one that is better out there. Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I too, am looking for a podcast player that I can insert into the sidebar. I’m very new to WP and have worked a little bit with widgets, so I was hoping to be able to add a widget in which I could embed the MP3 file (actually it’s on a server already so I have the URL) or direct it to pull the podcast and have the audio work through a player. I don’t want to send people to a blank Safari screen with the player stretched across it.

    I would think that if you have “Audio Player” installed, you can just put the short code in a text widget on the right sidebar for your specific podcast you want to feature, and it would pull the audio player and play the clip.

    I don’t think your short code is limited to the post itself, but I could be wrong.

    You have to create an enclosure, I believe, for the RSS to pick it up and deliver it in a feed. If you’re not publishing the post, then you have not enclosure and not feed to speak of.

    I would try that and see if it works.
