identical passwords error

Hello, I have an urgent problem:
When users try to register for our event, they get an error message, that the passwords they entered are identical, even if they are not. At first I thought, that the problem was isolated to people who were already customers of us and didnt realize that they had to login with their existing accounts, but now I could reproduce the same behaviour in an inkognito tab with a temporary mail account.
The behaviour is not completely consistent, but most of the time I can trigger it by not checking a mandatory checkbox in the same splitter the first time I try to enter and when then checking the box, the error of incorrect passwords remains, but this behaviour is not always the case, sometimes it also works.
Is there any fix or workaround? Could the problem be that multiple forms are on the same page and interfering with each other?
We would love to hear back from you soon as we are loosing participants in our race and revenue every day this problem continues.
