• I was just wondering if there was some kind of plug-in providing more detailed analysis on blog viewers. For example, it would be helpful if the IP addresses of all viewers/readers could be listed. Or, it would be helpful to know how many actual viewers/readers come to my blog, as opposed to actual hits, since one person browsing my blog could generate multiple hits.

  • Best bet would be to check with your host as they probably have stats programs on their backend running that will give you this information. Stuff like IP addresses, page views and the like.

StatCounter is one option. It’s available as a free version, and then there are paid versions with more options.

    https://www.statcounter.com/

They have instructions on their site for how to install for wordpress.

I have a special-purpose plugin (UniqueVisitors) I wrote a couple years back to help me track an individual human user that was using dynamic IP addresses.

It’s sole function is to add an image to the footer with a unique ID, like /wp-content/plugins/unique-visitors/spacer.gif?ffbb904f3eaca4c1acc

Detailed analysis, not exactly, but I then use AWstats (and other similar tools) to analyze my raw web server logs to track this particular visitor.
