Idiot's Guide?

Hi,
I think this plugin is just what I’m looking for but can’t seem to get it to work. I want to use it to sort my category pages alphabetically, such as this one: https://essexmums.org/naming/?cat=2
What do I need to do to get it to work? I’m not sure exactly what I have to put into the boxes on the admin page. I tried putting ‘female’ as that’s the name of the category but it didn’t seem to do anything.
Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong please?
