IE deletes entered data after verification error

As we know, the form is designed that in case of a validation error, the form disappears from the page and a box with the error message is visible (e.g. Security check: failed secret question. Please try again!), with a javascript history link back to the original form.
After clicking the back link, the form appears again, and in Firefox and Chrome, all previously entered data is still there as it should be, so you can fix the error and submit the form.
When I use IE 8 or IE 10 (on 2 different computers), the form is however blank, all entered data gone…
Can you please help? Is that a bug or something in my setup?
