if else statement for excerpt

I’m trying to make a if else statement for the excerpt tag but I’m not use to php not exactly sure where to start, I wanted if a excerpt equaled to a certain word it would come out with that word but if it was empty it come out with a defualt word the empty part is the part I’m having trouble with
