If i change a function from the parent theme will it erase after an update

  • I have to replace a function on the parent theme menu nav and i was wondering if after an update to the theme, will it erase it and go back to how it was? I know this will happen for the style.cc but im not sure if for other files like function, ima newbie so just trying to get some basic knowledge on these types of things? Thanks

  • If the file that you are editing within the main theme receives or is included in a future theme update then yes your custom edit will be overwritten.

    You can use your child theme functionality like style/css and function file too ,so should use them.
