• Yes, I am completely new to this. I’ve spent hours customizing a theme and am now curious about looking at other themes from a CMS perspective. If I deactivate my current theme and then return to it (reactivate) will all of my custom settings still be in place or is the theme reset to default settings?

Depends on what you changed. If you edited the theme itself, then your changes will remain.

Thanks Otto. I have been working with Atahualpa and it is set up with about 200 variables that can be altered. I believe that those changes are written into the theme itself and so should not be changed as you say, but I wanted to make sure. Sounds like I will be ok to experiment.

Where are these variables, exactly? How did you edit them?

They may be written into options in the database, in which case you may be safe to change themes without losing them. Probably.
