    Hello,

    I am having a difficulty…

I have set my front page to be the blog page although I need to know if the front page still uses a different php file than the page php?

I ask because I am having problems with the root url (calistheniccomrades.com) and the page url: (calistheniccomrades.com/blog) living 2 seperate lives.

Facebook will see and “fetch” more from “/blog” but nothing from the root url.

I just released the website, maybe I need to wait until spiders/robots fetch the information or I just need to change some settings?

/blog has a featured image and is set as the root url as well so I am confused on what is happening and if there are php files and if so, how do I control the featured image of the root url?

That depends on the theme really. Some themes have a Front Page template. If yours doesn’t, it’s more than likely using the single page template.

Are you saying that you’ve set the page titled Blog as your front page?

    Hey James,

I’m using the Twenty Twelve theme by wordpress.

Yes, you are correct. The option to set a static page has 2 options, a front page and a posts page. I have simply set the front page to my “blog” page and the posts page option is left unused.

Then, if I’m correct, the root url should be using the meta data from /blog due to it being the page used as the front page.

I am also confused as to why I cannot remove the slug from the blog page which is /blog as that page should just be the root url?

Is that understandable or do you need more info?

Ok, I think maybe you’re confused on what the setting is supposed to do.

If you want your blog posts to be the front page, just select “Your latest posts” as your front page.

    Hey James,

This is not what I want.

I am using a plugin that will display posts in a page and that is what I want.

I just want to be able to control the settings/SEO properties/Featured image of the front page. Thing is, when I post the root url, it doesn’t index anything in Google…

    According to this: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/images/9/96/wp-template-hierarchy.jpg

My .php file should be whichever I have set for the “Blog” page which is the “front page”.

Why is Google then not indexing it in that way?

Faecbook won”t generate anything for the root url but will show something for /blog.

It’s really confusing as to what is happening…

Ok, that plugin potentially has its own way of displaying things. What is the name of the plugin?

    Thread Starter Nico Collu

    (@nico-collu)

    Absolutely James,

    It’s this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/posts-in-page/

But it shouldn’t matter what data is in the static page. Google should still pull the featured image if I am correct?

What annoys me is that the root url and /blog are being seen differently as per what I’ve seen.

It could also be an indexing problem I have with wordpress at the moment or that the site just went live and it will take a few days!

I am using Googles webmaster tools to try to fix the problem as well!

Google should be doing that, but again it all depends on how the plugin is displaying the data.

I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/posts-in-page so you can get help from the plugin’s developer or support community.

    Hey James,

I might just do that if I can’t solve it with Googles webmaster tools although it passes my logic that that could be the case since I could put nothing in the static page and it would still have to index it’s featured image and other things.

Although sometimes things become illogical so I will give it a shot if anything!

Thanks for using your time to help me out!

For anyone reading, the problem has been resolved!

I used Yoasts SEO plugin and if you are on the page that has the problem, make Yoast plugin show an “SEO” button in the top dashboard then hover over it and one of the sub links is a FACEBOOK DEBUGGER.

Click on it and it will take you to the developer section of facebook where you can re-scan your website to show the latest!
