• This is the first time I will upgrade my wordpress blog.
Because I’m afraid to do the manual upgrade I was thinking to use Fantastico instead. If I do this, will my posts, plugins etc be lost?

  • You can only upgrade with Fantastico if you installed the blog with Fantastico to start with. If so, then you should
be able to upgrade fine with it. Just disable all plugins first and download a backup of your database first so you can recover if it doesn’t go well. You may also want to backup your upload directory and any custom themes before upgrading as well.

Well, I installed my blog with Fantastico. But I upgraded once using the automatic upgrade plugin.
I went to Fantastico and I saw a message there saying that I can upgrade the blog to version 2.7
The only strange was that it sees the version that it was when I installed WordPress with Fantastico, and not the version 2.6 that is now.

    So, now….?

Your guess is as good as mine…good chance there won’t be a problem, but you never know until you try. Just take a backup first. Of course, you could always do a manual upgrade…see videos here for some ideas.
