• Hello,

I have been trying all sorts of code adjustments earlier today that had this same issue, but found this plugin that has helped a lot, except it still has this issue.

I have it set to do shipping on a per item basis. We have some items that can only be shipped, some items that can only be picked up, and some that you can choose which option you want.

If all items are being shipped then it correctly charges tax on the shipping fees as is required bout Michigan State.

However, if any of the items are selected for pick up then it doesn’t charge tax on any shipping fees for the items that are listed as being shipped and their fees.

Please help as we are required to charge tax on all shipping fees.

    Thank you!

I’m afraid this is not something that I can replicate. Have you setup taxes outside the regular Tax module in WooCommerce? Do you have a third party shipping plugin that has extra tax settings?

I setup a couple packages on my test site, one with local pickup and another with one my shipping rate plugins. The only time the tax line changed was when I changed the paid shipping option to another option with a different price. If I toggled between a couple Local Pickup options in the other package, the tax never changed.

Especially in this case, the packages should be totally separate. So long as one of the selected options has a positive shipping value, a tax should be calculated on it (so long as tax is enabled on that method, tax can be disabled at the method level).

I went through the plugins and dont see any that even come close to relating to tax and went through the tax settings again to check and nothing has changed. If something is listed as local pickup it removes the tax from shipping items, only if everything is being shipped does it charge tax on shipping. I am using storefront with no child theme and trying to keep a minimum of plugins to make sure I dont have issues so I dont know. It was doing this when i tried to play with the code before using your plugin too so I didn’t know if it was just something innate with woocommerce itself, but since I have just a plain woocommerce install with storefront theme I don’t know what would be causing it and have done no code that relates to tax since it all caused problems and then found your plugin… to be clear i wasnt trying to code anything about tax, but about packages that your plugin handles but was having these tax issues, so I don’t know what to do at all… thank you, please let me know if there are any suggestions on what i can do.

How have you divided the items based on whether they or ship or not? Have you used shipping tax classes? I know there is a way to override taxes based on which items are in the cart. Perhaps you have this feature enabled by mistake for some of your products?

Sorry for the delay in responding, we have it based on shipping class, nothing related to taxes… I have shipping classes for pick up only, ship only, and then just use the no class selected for the option to choose which they want to do. For taxes I only have 1 tax for the state and nothing else enabled, an dont use shipping class taxes, in fact i dont see anythinga bout taxes in the shipping class fields so not sure how one would even do that, we just have the one tax as we only need to charge tax for thing shipping in our own state…. only have one tax set up as the standard tax, and everything set to use that standard tax, so I don’t know why it removes taxes on shipping when 1 item is picked up even if the rest are shipped….

    Thank you very much!!

Hi there i am having a similar issue. I have tax based on cart total. A flat rate shipping calculates tax correctly. However if a person selects local pick up there is no tax at all. Any idea why this would be happening? I have the local pick up option as taxable but still no luck hmmm?
