If possible show a group list?

Unless I misunderstand what you want, this is already possible. Did you see the documentation on displaying groups? Here is the relevant section:

Website Groups
To show all groups, use [wp-portfolio]
To show just the group with an ID of 1, use [wp-portfolio groups=”1″]
To show groups with IDs of 1, 2 and 4, use [wp-portfolio groups=”1,2,4″]

If that is not what you want, please clarify and give details. ??

Actually, I misread what I posted just now. Apparently, that code will just output listings within a specific group or set of groups.

I believe you want to have a list of the actual groups names, whereby users can click on the group name and then drill down to the listings. Correct?

I do not see that functionality in the plugin. If there is not another plugin or method to accomplish that, I can put it on the list for the next WP-Portfolio update. Please let me know your thoughts.

Yes, it is correct, when in menu I click in group 1 I can see only the group1 item.

Ok. Thank you for confirming. You are the first to request this feature, so I will add it to our list. This feature would make it possible to have a “directory” of sorts, which is not the focus of this plugin; but I do see the benefit of adding this feature.

We just launched v1.39, which had dozens of huge improvements, so I cannot say when the next release will be but I will get this suggestion in the development queue. ??

We are in the process of reviewing the possibility to add this new feature. When it is ready for testing, will you be able to take a look and confirm that it works the way you intended? Once it’s released, that’s it, so it’s important to give your feedback before it goes live.

Quick update: My developer hit an obstacle with this feature. I have been waiting all week to hear what happened. Hopefully we can find a workaround, but I just wanted to update that this feature may have to be postponed. I’ve already spent $750 on it before my developer reported a problem, so it’s already over the budget for this feature that I thought would be simple to implement. ??

I will report back when I know more…

Quick update: My other developer managed to get this working rather quickly. So it is likely to be included in the next update. I am currently testing the feature and will ask you to take a look, once we get a few, minor bugs worked out with it.

Currently, it just outputs a raw list of all active groups. The list can be easily themed using CSS. Clicking on the group title will take the user to a pre-generated page that contains all of the listings in that group.

Sorry I forgot to update this thread once it was ready for testing. I’ve run numerous tests on this feature and it seems to be working. We are planning to release the next version of WP-Portfolio, which will include this feature, in the next few days. If you would like to BETA test it briefly before the release, please let me know quickly. I will provide you with access to the BETA test site. Otherwise, you can submit change requests, after the release is published, that will be included in follow-up releases.
