• I guess the reason why it does this is that they collect your email when generating an API key and save the email on their side. Then it retrieves the email address from their API when sending out alerts. There should be a way to disable this feature.

  • Thanks for reaching out. I looked but didn’t see any requests for help from you about this. www.ads-software.com rules prevent us from offering support in the Review section but I’ll share what I can.

We do not collect your emails, and most certainly not for sending alerts. Those are set on the Wordfence > Dashboard > Global Options page on your website in the General Wordfence Options section where it says “Where to email alerts”. You can add multiple email addresses here, separated by commas, so make sure you check to see that the old email wasn’t left accidentally. Don’t forget to save the changes before leaving the page. Just changing the admin email on the WordPress > Settings > General page wouldn’t change the email address on the Wordfence admin page.

On the off chance you have added the site to our free monitoring tool, Wordfence Central, you’d need to login to Wordfence.com and change it there too. That isn’t automatic either so if you don’t remember creating an account on Wordfence.com you probably don’t have to worry about it.

Yes, the plugin ask you for your email when creating an API key. It kind of forces you to create an api key on wordfence.com. If I do a search and replace on the database, alerts will still go to the old email. So if it’s not saved in my database and not saved on your website, then where is the email saved?

Did you check where I said to?
