• There are so many issues with self-hosted WP websites. Therefore, I was thinking that it might be better if one would buy a custom plan (premium theme, custom colors and fonts and a custom domain) on WP.com and would build their website there.

What would be the disadvantages? Is there a file upload limit? Can you buy more storing space?

I mean, having both a shop and a forum and other features is too heavy for a basic self-hosted site, so if you don’t have all those functionalities, why should you have a self-hosted site?

    Thoughts welcome!

    Hope this helps.

If your website is very slow

I would first try a better host. Do you have a specific site to link us to that is slow using self hosted .org?

It’s not usually that much work to make it load faster. That said, if using poorly coded themes or plugins, a poor host too, it’s not going to help much to optimize the site.
