iframe or div news

hi there, i am changing from phpnuke and just love wordpress but i am still in the begining of learning the rules around here . . . he!he!
here is the question:

I want to make my first page static by putting the news inside of a frame or div or something else but i am not being able to do it. i tryed to just
<iframe> “rest of theme code for news” </iframe>
the div option for scroll
but none of them seems to work on my hands.
i thought perhatps that using an external file in iframe but i was unsucessfull.
how can i pull this off

ps.by the way i know that you hate to use iframes hehehe
