• Hi,

IFTT stopped working with my blog about a month ago. Napier is also no longer able to connect. I’m getting a ‘Blog URL is not a valid WordPress url’ error from IFTT and a “(401) Unauthorized” error from Napier.

I’m told that my xmlrpc.php file is working fine.

    Everything is updated.

I’ve tried connecting and reconnecting from IFTT and Napier.

I tried connect with each plug-in disabled.

I checked and tripled checked the password.

I tried changing my password to not have symbols.

I set up a posts page.

I tried different versions on my blog url, with/without www etc.

I do have a notice on my blog dashboard that my php updating but when I follow the link I am told that I am OK now and have hardenedphp.

    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!
    Leila

https://blog.leilacools.com/xmlrpc.php works in-browser, but if you try to reach it via cURL, it’s blocked as 401 Unauthorized.

Most of these services use cURL, so that would explain why they’re blocked.

If you are using any security plugins, try connecting with those temporarily deactivated. If you don’t have any, or if that didn’t work, I would suggest contacting your hosting provider and asking them to unblock your site’s XML-RPC. The most popular hosting providers out there have managed to find other ways to protect their servers without having to hinder your site and your ability to use services with your WordPress.

    Thanks for that info, James.

I use wordfence but disabled it for testing.
I will contact my host and see what I can find out;)

Some of the features of the security plugins are handled by setting defines in the config file or by putting rules in the .htaccess file. So deactivting the plugin doesn’t necessarily undo the options that you had chosen.

    I had wondered about that…

I haven’t spoken with my host yet but I have another symptom. I re-wrote and scheduled the missed posts within the WP admin and now I see that none of them posted as scheduled;(

There is a “Missed schedule” in red beside each post on the ‘all posts’ page…no other error messages that I can see.

Just hoping this might narrow down the issue…

That’s not related to the xmlrpc.php issue, but try this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/scheduled-post-trigger/

The plug in worked for missed posts. Thanks!

I’m in touch with my host to see about the xmlrpc.php
