I'm being redirected when trying to log in to the dashboard

  • I’ve recently completed building my website in WordPress and have moved all of the WP files into the parent directory for where the site is hosted. When visiting the site, it pulls up fine, but when I type in the site URL/wp-admin to log in and work on the site to make changes, it redirects me back the location of the site where the files were when I was building it. I’ve already tried going into Settings>General and change it URL to the new location where the files are located at both WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL), but when I click Save Changes, both fields revert back to the old location.

    Please note, I changed the two locations over to in Settings>General, before moving the files over to the parent directory, as I read that it must be done in that order when moving your WP site files. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

    Also, at this point, I have not removed the WP files from the old location as I wanted to make sure everything worked smoothly before I do.

    Thank you, but unfortunately, that didn’t work. Once I’m in the dashboard, it still redirects me to the original location of the WP site files. ??

    Did you review Moving_WordPress?

    Or try a fresh Install again!!

    I’ve backed up my WP database files and am going to look into possibly making edits to the wp_options table. According to that link you posted esmi (under the ‘If you forget to change the locations’) section, it mentions doing that.
