This morning I logged in to the admin back end as normal and installed a ReCaptcha plugin, activated it, input the key and secret key then logged out to test it.Noticing that the recaptcha tick box didn’t appear, I then tried to log back in until I ran out of attempts, with the 20 minute warning.
Subsequent logins failed and the ‘forgot password?’ email procedure never sent any emails.
I then went to my CPanel>PHPMyadmin>dbase>wp-users and changed my password selecting MD5.
This didn’t work either, so I created a new user with a different email address and that wouldn’t login either.
Any attempt to register a new user comes up with ‘Registration Error!’
I had about 50 new users all with Hotmail addresses and I deleted them all through PHPMyadmin.
Could my IP be blocked? I tried registering over a VPN but even that didn’t work and i didn’t have an IP blocker installed.
    Completely stumped here.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey,

You should be able to see in the hosting admin any blocked IPs but I believe these are blocked to the site itself and you wouldn’t be able to even get to the login screen (could be wrong though!)
Have you tried deactivating the captcha plugin as this seems to have caused the initial issue? (edit the plugin directory name so that it can’t be loaded e.g. change “my-captcha-plugin” to “OLD-my-captcha-plugin”). If that lets you in, maybe try another solution.

    Thanks Joey
At the login screen the Re-Captcha logo and tick box aren’t even showing, so I’m in two minds as to whether re-captcha is the problem. If it’s active it should show.

    Hey,

Yeah you’re probably right but just to be safe you may as well disable it for now. If it is the cause then it’s a quick fix

    Your advice worked Joey.
I renamed the Invisible Recaptcha plugin folder to .old and I was able to login finally.
Great tip, so many thanks for your help.

No worries. Always a good first check when trying new extensions as it’s so quick and easy.

My advice to you would be to ditch that plugin and/or contact the plugin developers to let them know the issue you had.

    Take care

I’ve raised the issue at the relevant WP support forum and it appears that it’s not an isolated case.
I have indeed deleted the plugin so that I can find another one that works properly.
    Cheers!
