I'm new and having some image scaling issues
-
Hey guys over at my blog tehbigwebtheory.com I installed a theme that I enjoy a lot! Only problem is is that it seems to zoom into my featured image a lot. I have tried using 576×172 resolution with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could to because it looks really ugly the way it is right now.
-
seriously nobody?
What your theme is doing is resizing the image based with some php in timthumb.php, if you were to take a look in there in your theme file and change some variables (it might be nice and commented). Then if you don’t understand it you could maybe copy it to here and I’ll take a look.

?>Well thankfully this script is pretty helpful and has a bool to turn it off or on. So currently your image url will look like this:
but at the end you see zc=1 (the variable described as zoom crop), if we change this in the url to 0, it gives the result you’re after:
So perhaps you are given the option to do this in the view file, however if not you could probably change this code slightly.
If you were to change the line
$zoom_crop = preg_replace("/[^0-9]+/", "", get_request("zc", 1));
with simply
$zoom_crop = 0;
I think that should work
I changed it it now I cant do anything, not even change it back. It tells me even at my dashboard that it’s unable to connect to tehbigwebtheory. OMG HELP!
If you’ve been using the editor within wordpress, that comes with a lot of problems! Such as, if theres any error in your code, it breaks everything.
What you need to do is, if you’re on shared hosting, get filezilla (or an ftp program similar) and connect to the site and grab that php file and fix the error.
If you’re unable to fix the error, tell me what error php gives you in the web browser and paste me your code. Its probably a missing ‘;’ or something syntaxy.
okay I got this sorted out out. I went on filezilla and changed the php. I checked if it transfered properly on my wp editor. It did. Problem is that is still is zoomed in!
