• I’ve been using Word Press for awhile on my personal blog. However, I’ve been given a project that goes way beyond my understanding of Word Press. I am just at a loss as strategy to go about this.

What I am lost with is how to manage visitors who want to sign up and post articles on the blog. I am really focusing on making the site easy to use. I have figured out how to use author pages, but what I want to do is be able to have a user who is already logged in be able to click right to what their author page is.

I am sorry if this is confusing, but I am just really stumped on this.

    Thanks,
    scott

  • You might want to start by reading what the Codex has to say on user roles and capabilities:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Roles_and_Capabilities

    Here’s a quick summary…

By default, a new registered user is a Subscriber. A Subscriber cannot write posts, only comments. In order for a user to be able to write a post, she must be promoted at least to the Contributor level. A Contributor can write posts, but they must be approved for publication by an Editor or Administrator. If you want the user to be able to publish her posts (i.e., make them appear on the public site), you should promote her to Author.

To set permissions level for a user, log in as administrator and go to the Users page. Select the users you want to promote (or demote, as the case may be), then the role you want to assign to them, and click on Bulk Update. Alternatively, you can edit users’ permissions one at a time…
